Projects change often, even after the initial proposal is signed. Let me create Change Orders with Handoff. Change Orders are like amendments to the original proposal/agreement. They function like their own mini-estimate: they have line items, qty rates and item totals, markup, etc. They should be quick to generate. Often they'll be short, like 5 lines or less. We need these change orders signed, and invoiceable.

When I manually edit an item, I'm not able to change the units. It looks like the units are just part of the name, but I can't change them. I can only change name, quantity, and cost. This is confusing. Sometimes I need to change the units. Maybe I want to change $/HRS to $/SF, or change from $/CY of concrete to $/SF of Concrete. Currently, Handoff doesn’t tell me the $ total for Materials and Labor. It itemizes them, which is nice, but I need to manually add it up myself manually to figure out the running Material Total and Labor Total. Some projects or owners require this. I prefer that AI does this, because I may miscount manually. I don’t need Material and Labor broken group by group. Just 1 final total for each is enough. In some cases, I like to show the homeowners the material costs vs labor costs. Sometimes the clients require it, say for bigger GCs. My preference may change job by job for this, so i should be able to ajdust.

Display a Material Total and Labor Total on the estimate and proposal, so I can show the customer.

I need to estimate multiple areas for the same project. For example, -I’m doing a kitchen and 3 bathrooms of different size. - I’m doing the main house, the garage, and the in-law unit. - I’m doing apt units A B C - I’m doing buildings 1 2 3 - I’m doing Floors 4 5 6 - I’m doing Phase 1 2 3 And my owner needs me to separate the bid into these prices. I want to organize and present these areas in 1 proposal, such that I have the cost of each area known. This lets the homeowner decide which areas they want to proceed with. Currently, Handoff will just mix together the quantities of the kitchen and bath tile, flooring, drywall, lighting, etc. It makes the estimate difficult to use.

Let me separate my estimate by area or room, instead of by trade.

Right now I can only send proposals to 1 point of contact. What if I need to send it to 2+ people who are both decision makers? This is common in larger projects. What if I want to cc myself or a team member?

Let me send a proposal to multiple recipients (and to myself by default)

Right now, I’m limited to 3 total users on my Team (2 invitees, plus me). I’d like more users to have access to Handoff.

I wanted to Archive estimates. I tap the 3 dot menus and can never find it. Most often I want to do this from the Dashboard because I’m trying to clean up my dashboard. However, the archive option isn’t available on the dash. In fact, it’s only available on Draft estimates. I don’t understand, just let me archive any estimate any time to clean up my dashboard. This goes for Draft Sent Approved Declined estimates.

Let me Archive any estimate, any time, from both dashboard or editing view.

I want to save my preferences about how I like to estimate. I want AI to use those preferences moving forward so I don't have to repeat myself in every project description and prompt. This would help me get uniform results. For example, I would use this to add: - default labor rates - default UOMs (I prefer $/SF for labor, not $/HR) - default Section naming - default items (always include line items for permits, supervision, travel) - default material selections and pricing (for flooring, always use engineered hardwood at $12/SF). etc

We will be rolling out a Chat-based AI where you can have a back-and-forth conversation with Handoff to create your estimates. You’ll be able to see your previous prompts, jump back to previous versions, have it ask clarifying questions, and more. This system will help create better estimates the first time, and make it easier to update them moving forward!

I let my clients choose their material selections, and they'll buy the materials so it's exactly what they want. I just get hired for labor to install. Right now, I have to tell the AI in my instructions that the estimate is labor only. I'd prefer the ability to select this upfront.

Labor Only - let me select that my project is labor only before generating my estimate.

My clients have varying finish needs. Some clients need high end finishes for their forever home. Others want budget grade finishes for a quick flip on a house investment. Some property managers need budget grade replacements for plumbing fixtures. &gt;&gt; I'd prefer a way to specify my entire project to be a certain grade. I don't want to tell the AI every time. I may forget to tell it, and then my prices look inaccurate. Generally it's all nice finishes, or it isn't. It's not mix and match. Also, I'd like to set a default. Most of my personal clients are actually high end jobs for forever homes, so I don't want to specify that every time.

Settings to specify projects as high, medium, or low end. Adjust my pricing.

If we could also be able to slide the category up or down like the items...that would be helpful also. Sometimes the AI will group them a little strange... especially when you added one later Love the ability to help grow the software!

I already have a long price list separate from Handoff. I don’t want to upload these rates one by one into the AI Preferences feature. Can I somehow upload my price list to speed it up?

My jobs are small and usually 1 job = 1 invoice. I just send the invoice when I'm done working. I don't like setting up the invoices at the job's start, because the job is always changing. Instead, let me convert or copy a proposal to an invoice when I'm ready. In my mind, the "Invoice" is just the next step in the proposal process. Estimate becomes a Proposal then becomes an Invoice.

I got used to the old way of estimating with Handoff, where I just describe my projects. I’m not sure what I can or can’t ask the new chat. For instance, Justin w/ Handoff mentioned I can ask it about material prices, or summarizing my labor hours, or separating material and labor costs. What else can it do?

Tell me what this new Chat can and can't do

Every job, I use the same few manufacturers. Let me tell AI remember this, so I only get Kohler Plumbing fixtures, only Lithonia lighting, only Trex decking, Hardie siding, Mohawk flooring, etc.

Let me save my preferred brands and manufacturers.

Change Log - Show a timeline of all AI updates, manual changes, staff access, status changes, etc of a project.

When my clients pay with Handoff invoices, Handoff pays me out once every 2 business days. Sometimes, I just need the money faster. Usually the deposit invoice is my money to go buy materials. Sometimes this needs to happen same day, next day, or over the weekend. If I get the invoice paid Friday but have to wait until Tuesday, that's can delay my projects. Please give me a faster option. Can I get Next Day? Can I get same day or instant?

Invoicing - Provide options for faster payouts (instant, same day, next day)

I like the itemization the AI does. Sometimes though, I have a final price already established for the project or for a section. This may be because I have a price expectation set with the homeowner, or because I got a sub bid for a certain price, or because I just want to round-off the estimate total a certain way. I want to do this while editing the estimate, not the proposal.

I want AI to re-work my estimate items to match exact grand totals or exact section totals.

User Location Settings: Users want AI to use local prices.

I have multiple team members at my company who need access to my account. They include my foreman, my superintendent, my admin, my estimator, and more. Right now, I need to have them log in with my number, I get a 6-digit code texted, and I have to share it with them. It's a little clunky. If they get logged out, we need to repeat this. Give me a way to invite members to my account. This would let them log-in without bothering me.

Break out Material and Labor item costs

Right now I can only set the Price Location when creating my estimate. I can't change it later. Let me change it. Maybe I mis-typed the city. Or maybe I want to see how a kitchen remodel costs change between two cities.

Every client is different. Some more detailed clients (like large GCs, insurance companies, or detailed homeowners) prefer to see the complete breakdown instead of a rollup. Today, the only way to send this is to export Handoff's estimate to PDF. Or I just show them on my device.

Ability to send Proposals with full breakdown (qty, rate, item totals)

As contractors, we cover a large service area, often a 60-90 minutes radius from a home base location. There are real costs involved in having crews drive vehicles multiple times a week to a project that's 1 hr away. Handoff should include these costs in the estimate. Consider things like the distance from home base to project (in time and mileage), gasoline (at my local gas rates), average mpg, the number of vehicles/workers sent, the number of trips, etc. I still pay for my crews' time even if they're just driving from our office to the jobsite. For remote projects, crew lodging and per diems (meals, supplies etc) may be required.
