Budget vs Actual (BvA): Track actual costs vs estimated costs to know my profit
Once I get a signed proposal, I know my budget. I want to track my actual costs against that estimated budget, so I know how profitable I was. I would want to track sub costs, materials, labor, travel, and more. Let me track these costs.

“Ability to compare actual costs from quickbooks with the estimated costs —— I would like handoff to be able to compare actual costs from quickbooks with the estimated costs so it can learn from each job and adjust pricing accordingly. The ability to add feedback when actuals are off would be helpful also, ie roofing ends up more than estimated so we confirm that the takeoff qty was correct, but the install cost was more because it had many valleys, so handoff adjusts pricing and now asks for the complexity of the roof moving forward. This way every completed job helps improve the accuracy of future estimates.” - Anonymous user

Track Expense for projects budget vs actuals
My current CRM, markate lets me track how much I’ve actually spent on a job and compare that to how much it was estimated to complete the project. I don’t see a clear way to complete this analysis in Handoff and it would extremely beneficial to use 1 system for all my project needs including tracking actual spending

Expense & Invoice Tracking
I want a way to track subcontractor invoices and expenses directly in the platform. Right now I don’t have anywhere to put them except “documents,” which doesn’t tie into costs or budgets, so I’m forced to use QuickBooks separately to track actuals

Cost vs. Actual Reporting
I want built-in cost vs. actual tracking so I can see financial performance of projects. I’m currently missing visibility into how estimates compare to real costs, which is critical for managing profitability.

I would like this to also work backwards. As the AI compares actuals vs Estimated costs, it learns from every job. If the numbers are off by more than a set % then it flags it for clarification, was the qty correct in the estimate? was the scope correct? was there a one off reason the actual was off on this job (ie tool issues caused delays on this one job, or crew made a mistake and had to correct it).
That way the AI can give insight into making sure estimates are more accurate moving forward. Maybe we are not getting the correct takeoffs, or maybe our crews cannot get as much lf of trim installed as we think they can, maybe we are not accounting for how weather is slowing down our productivity, etc.
This is a feature that would really set handoff apart from any construction management platform I have used.

Job costing + financials
Build out ability for job costing to track true profitability of projects and his business as a whole. I do not want to take online payments through Handoff without having job costing. For this reason I must keep using my other system and export information from Handoff.
