Permit Fees & Expeditor Fields

In South Florida, almost every condo renovation requires a building permit. Permit fees, review time, and expeditors are real costs and real timeline factors — but they're not built into Handoff as line items or schedule elements.

Request: Add a "Permitting & Expediting" section with:

  • Permit requirement toggle (Yes / No / Unknown)
  • Permit type (Building, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Roofing, etc.)
  • Authority (City of Miami Beach, Miami-Dade, etc.)
  • Estimated permit fee and actual permit fee fields
  • Expeditor needed (Yes / No), with company, flat fee or hourly rate
  • Target submittal date and target approval date

Behavior: When "Permit required = Yes," the system should prompt me to add permit line items to the estimate and show permit-related time in the project schedule (review time, inspections, re-inspection allowances).

    Have you tried adding these into your custom catalog?you should also be able to create a rule for this.

    Catalog:

    Building Permit

    Plumbing permit

    etc

    Rules:

    “for every estimate, if it is not specified, ask me if permits are required, and clarify which ones will be needed. Then add each of those from my custom cost catalog”

    As far as estimating permit costs, good luck. Up here each town has their own method for permit fees, and we dont even attempt to estimate them, we just let the customer know they will be responsible for the actual fees and will be given a change order once the town issues the fee.
