Hi Handoff Team, First, I'd like to say that we're really enjoying using Handoff. It has become an essential part of our estimating workflow, and we truly appreciate everything your team has built. Recently, we encountered a significant pricing issue while estimating a PG&E utility project. One of the required electrical vaults was estimated by Handoff at approximately **$420**, while the actual market price from multiple Bay Area suppliers is **between $1,700 and $2,000**. A pricing discrepancy like this can substantially impact the accuracy and profitability of a bid. We'd love to help improve Handoff's supplier database for contractors working in Northern California. We believe the platform would become even more valuable by integrating with the region's major suppliers, allowing estimates to reflect real local market pricing. Below are several suppliers that are widely used by General Contractors, Utility Contractors, Civil Contractors, and Landscape Contractors throughout the Bay Area. | Supplier | Website | Primary Products | | ------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | White Cap | https://www.whitecap.com | Concrete, rebar, underground utilities, drainage, utility construction materials, traffic control, masonry, waterproofing, safety products | | Grainger | https://www.grainger.com | Industrial supplies, MRO, PPE, tools, electrical, plumbing, fleet maintenance, HVAC, material handling | | SiteOne Landscape Supply | https://www.siteone.com | Irrigation, landscape materials, hardscape, pavers, retaining walls, drainage, outdoor lighting | | Core & Main | https://www.coreandmain.com | Waterworks, sewer, storm drain, HDPE pipe, PVC pipe, ductile iron pipe, underground utility materials | | Graybar | https://www.graybar.com | Electrical distribution, lighting, conduit, wire & cable, switchgear, telecom | | CED (Consolidated Electrical Distributors) | https://www.cednca.com | Electrical supplies, wire, conduit, breakers, panels, lighting | | Edges Electrical Group | https://www.edgesgroup.com | Electrical distribution, utility electrical products, conduit, wire & cable, switchgear | | Alameda Electrical Distributors | https://alamedaelectric.com | Electrical distribution, lighting, switchgear, contractor electrical supplies | | Fastenal | https://www.fastenal.com | Fasteners, anchors, bolts, screws, industrial supplies, safety products | | Simpson Strong-Tie | https://www.strongtie.com | Structural connectors, anchoring systems, framing hardware, epoxy products | | Builders FirstSource | https://www.bldr.com | Lumber, engineered wood, trusses, framing components, doors, windows | | Golden State Lumber | https://www.goldenstatelumber.com | Lumber, framing materials, plywood, engineered lumber, doors, windows | | Beronio Lumber | https://www.beronio.com | Lumber, decking, siding, plywood, hardwood | | Pacific Supply | https://www.pacificsupply.com | Roofing, drywall, insulation, siding, building materials | | Graniterock | https://www.graniterock.com | Ready-mix concrete, asphalt, aggregates, construction materials | | Vulcan Materials | https://www.vulcanmaterials.com | Aggregates, crushed stone, sand, gravel, asphalt, ready-mix concrete | | Basalite | https://www.basalite.com | Concrete block, retaining wall systems, pavers, masonry products | | Calstone | https://www.calstone.com | Pavers, retaining walls, outdoor living products, hardscape systems | | Peninsula Building Materials | https://pbm1923.com | Natural stone, veneer stone, pavers, masonry, premium hardscape materials | | South Bay Materials | https://www.southbaymaterials.com | Soil, mulch, gravel, sand, decorative rock, pavers, drainage materials | | Lyngso Garden Materials | https://www.lyngsogarden.com | Mulch, compost, topsoil, decorative rock, landscape materials | | Central Home Supply | https://www.centralhomesupply.com | Hardscape, landscape supplies, concrete products, natural stone | | Sunbelt Rentals | https://www.sunbeltrentals.com | Construction equipment rental, excavators, compactors, generators, pumps | | United Rentals | https://www.unitedrentals.com | Heavy equipment rental, trench safety, earthmoving equipment, utility equipment | | Herc Rentals | https://www.hercrentals.com | Construction equipment rental, material handling, earthmoving equipment | | Uline | https://www.uline.com | Warehouse supplies, storage, shipping materials, PPE, safety products | These suppliers cover approximately **95% of the materials purchased by General Contractors and Utility Contractors throughout the Bay Area**, making them excellent candidates for future integrations. In addition to supplier integrations, we believe the following features would make Handoff even more valuable for professional contractors: * Supplier-specific pricing * Contractor account pricing * Real-time inventory availability * Regional pricing by ZIP code * Automatic material substitutions * Supplier quote import (PDF/Excel) * Live SKU lookup * Technical datasheets * Material lead times * Purchase order integration We also have one additional suggestion that we believe would significantly improve transparency and estimator confidence. For every material in an estimate, Handoff should clearly display **which supplier the price was sourced from** (for example: White Cap, Grainger, SiteOne, Core & Main, etc.). This would allow estimators to quickly verify pricing and understand the origin of each material cost. Additionally, if a price is **not based on a real supplier quote or catalog** and is instead generated by AI or estimated from historical data, we recommend displaying a **yellow warning triangle (⚠️)** next to that item. Hovering over the icon could display a message such as: > **Estimated Price** – This value is AI-generated and is not based on a current supplier price. Please verify before submitting your bid. This simple visual indicator would immediately distinguish verified supplier pricing from AI-estimated pricing, helping contractors make better decisions while increasing confidence in the platform. Adding these capabilities would elevate Handoff to the level of enterprise construction platforms such as **Procore**, **Procurify**, and **Buildertrend**, while maintaining the unique advantage of AI-powered estimating. If it would be helpful, we'd be happy to continue providing feedback from the perspective of a contractor actively bidding PG&E, utility, civil, landscape, and residential projects in Northern California. We'd love to help Handoff become the most accurate estimating platform available. Thank you again for building such a great product. We look forward to seeing Handoff continue to grow, and we're always happy to help. Best regards, **Raphael Andrade** Vertex
